Fixed Revolutions

Illustration | Motion Design

Fixed Revolutions is my BFA thesis project. It focuses on the art of animation by exploring cycles, both natural and manmade. I laser cut black chipboard into 12” discs with evenly spaced radial slits. The physical discs limited my animation to 12-16 frames that needed to perfectly loop. By spinning the discs and matching the camera framerate to the number of animation frames, you are able to view the sequences digitally. By standing in front of a mirror, looking through the slits, and spinning the discs you can view the animation physically… something that engaged and delighted visitors during my thesis exhibition.
